Bunn/Smiley family link

On 26 August 1894, Marion Harley Bunn, daughter of Henry Alfred and Margaret (Wilson) Bunn of St Kilda, married Thomas Alexander Ward Smiley, son of Shepherd Parkman and Margaret Phoebe (Ward) Smiley. Isabella Ada Bunn

Isabella Ada Bunn, born on 27 January 1866 at St Kilda, Victoria, was the 5th of the 12 children of Henry Alfred and Margaret (Wilson) Bunn. In 1884 she was married at Caulfield to Francis (Frank) John Ackroyd, an estate agent who was born at Ballarat in 1861, son of Francis and Mary Ann (Walker) Ackroyd.

In 1891 when she was aged 25, she along with her two sisters Marion and Margaret were among the 30,000 women who signed the Women's Suffrage Petition which argued that women should have the same voting rights as men.

Isabella and Frank Ackroyd had six children. They lived at Villiers Street, Elsternwick. Following the death of Frank Ackroyd in 1913, Isabella lived at a number of locations - Cochrane Street, Elsternwick where she lived with her daughter Eunice, Rothsay Avenue, Balaclava and Woodville Street, Glenhuntly where she was living with her son Geoffrey Ackroyd. She died on 18 September 1932 aged 66.
