Joyce (white) McLean

Marjorie Joyce White and William John (Jack) McLean

Marjorie Joyce White (known as Joyce) was the 4th of five children of George and Myra (nee Egglestone) White. She was born on 15 September 1915 at Birchip, Victoria.

Along with her siblings, she attended Tempy Primary School.

At the age of 17, she married William John (Jack) McLean, 21, son of Percy Hugh and Ethel Sarah (nee Kilcullen) McLean. Jack was born at Tempy, worked on district farms and was friends with Joyce's brother Ted and brother-in-law Eric Burke.

The couple had three children - Ken, Joan and Peter.

Jack McLean served in the Australian Army in World War Two, enlisting at Richmond, Victoria on 22 April 1942 and serving until his discharge from the 1 Artillery Battalion on 14 March 1945.

From the late 1940s, he and Joyce lived on a grape-growing property on Morpung Avenue, Irymple, Victoria. During the 1970s, they moved to live at 239 8th Street, Mildura.

Jack McLean They were both in their 80s and living in Mildura at the time of their deaths. Jack died on 3 January 1994 aged 82, Joyce died on 4 August 2000 aged 84.
